Asha Bhonsle

Asha Bhonsle was born on September 8th, 1933 in a muscial family. She was trained by her father Dinanath Mangeshkar in Classical music. She made her debut as a playback singer in 1948 in Chunariya but got recognitions in the industry in the year 1957 when she sung in Tumsa Nahin Dekha and Naya Daur.

Asha till now had sung thousands of songs and got huge hits in bollywood. She had sung in many Indian languages and had thousands of songs under her belt. She had sung hindi songs for bollywood actresses like aishwaria ray, madhubala, kajol and many others. She had national awards for Umrao Jaan and Ijazzat and numerous Filmfare awards.

She had sung many memorable ghazals in her journey as a singer. O.P.Nayyar & R.D.Burman used her extensively and experimented with her in wide variety of music. Teesri Manzil, Ijazat, Khushboo with R.D.Burman, Ek Musafir Ek Haseena, ‘Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye’ & many others with O.P.Nayyar have added unforgettable rare gems to film music. Her mastery in Nigahe Mila Ne Ko Jee Chahta Hai, Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, bhajan - Sun Le Pukar, ghazal - In Akho Ki Masti Ke, Cabaret - Piya Tu Abto Aaja, Duniya Mein, are proof of her singing talent.
